Canada is broken, it’s economy is a joke, people are losing jobs, losing their houses, if they even have a title now with the Supreme Courts decision that will forever change and security when you buy a house. Schools are full, hospitals are bulging, health crisis with Dr leaving in BC. Post office needs to be dismantled, there is nothing working the way it should right now and not many I know think Canada will ever be the same. I know more meetings for AB to become independent than any other meetings right now. And few people I know think just voting another party will get things back to some sense of normal. It’s too far gone and we have neither the politicians or the finances to make things better. Certainly handing out millions, like welfare, to folks who lost their job will get them a job , or do anything good for Canadas finances. This debt will not be paid off for years and years, and all that money printing will just make inflation go up. So see hope is just a word right now, the feeling of hope won’t be restored until there is something to be hopeful for. And the outside factor of the US and it’s obvious dislike of our federal governments, not something you can phone and say “ hey Donald, do you think you could back off a bit, after all we been willing slaves to what you ask of us. We need your help because our governments like a one legged cat, hoping around wondering how he will run away from the dog that wants eat him. At least the dog gets to eat, while our farmers are finding it harder to produce our food, or supply exports if anyone wants them. I never thought I would see the day, I would tell my kids to leave Canada so they have a future but I can’t take a chance the Canada I grew up in, will ever be that Canada or take so long they will have no future. It’s a sad day for the Canada we knew to see the Canada we have now

This piece does little to explain WHY!!! If the Canadian electoral system is more robustly constructed than the US to prevent undue external pressure from monied (ie, corporate) interests then WHY do our elected representatives invariably favour neoliberal monetary and fiscal policies that, by design, create egregious levels of wealth inequality?
