Great article. Internationalism is not an ideal to strive for, its necessity. Even the most principled, hardest working socialist is inevitably going to view the world in part through their provincial lens and the only way to get the whole story is through international cooperation. Not just checking in with the vibe, but having people you are beholden to.

For the last few years I’ve been teaching myself Spanish and I do it in part because it’s fun, in part because it’s a skill and maybe I can pull myself up by my bootstraps, but also because I want to be able to talk with young Chilean marxists about how to organize.
