I grew up pretty close to Flint in the 90s and 2000s and it was still talked about with reverence. Older people in the area have a hodgepodge of contradictory ideas in their heads about unions because of the strong union history and prosperity on the one hand and the decades of anti-union propaganda and decline if Flint and Detroit on the other, but imo the sit down strike is the one event that everyone agrees rocks.
